Lorong Ah Soo Tournament WCQ 27/5/2012

Sorry about the late report, busy with exams

Decide to test out my new deck
Anyway the reports are based on how much I wrote done + Memory, it may be quite vague. Here goes

Format: 4 round Swiss cut to top 8 (I think)
Number of participants: Never count not sure. I was quite late
Deck used: Rabbit Machina Geargia
Judge: Shelton?? (Did I write his name correctly?)

Round 1 vs Bixuan (Inzektors) OXO
Game 1
He MSTed my MST
Started with a Rabbit then going into 2 Machanicalchaser = A GeargigantoX. Proceeds to add Gearframe
Attacked him twice with X
His Lp: 8K to 3400.
Not sure how my X was got rid of.
He then got 2 damsels and 1 centipede (equipped with hornet), MY LP: 8k to 3.9K
I summon Gearframe, he veiled it, but I chained torrential. Effect goes through, Added a Gearframe
I tried to finish the game by summoning 2 fortresses. But he booked one of them - His LP 3400 to 900.
I bottomless his Centipede.
He ends his turn with a zenmaines and a Centipede
I top deck a reborn. Use it on fortress and hit his centipede. A win for me

(Game 2 sided 2 Chain disappearance and 2 Mind Crush)

Game 2
He veiled my Rabbit.( I then set two back rows)
Next turn, He veiler my gearframe. (I set one more back row). I then attack, then he gave me a Malevolent Catastrophe. Blowing up my back row. Thefaq! But he still takes my attack. His LP: 8k to 6.2K
Gearframe goes on attacking. (His LP: 4400).
I forgot what he did. I ended with an X that reduced his LP to 2100.
He summons a BLS that ram into my X and BLS hits me again! MY LP: 2300
Could not deal with the BLS and I died from there.
*He removed my fortress from game

(Game 3: Put in a Morphing Jar 2 and sided out 1 Mind Crush)

Game 3
Summons a Rabbit, comes 2 vanilla X-Head Cannons then made a Geargiganto X. Effect, detach X-head cannon, adds a gearframe and sets warning ends.
His turn, out popped a card trooper which I warning. And things went downhill for him from there.
I summoned a Gearframe, intending to add fortress but he got a veiler. (I had no idea what his backrows are)
Desparate to kill. I drop a Machanicalchaser, to special summon a cannon. Removed the chaser and X-head cannon for my BLS. (In field BLS, Geargiganto X, Gearframe and a Machina Cannon)
3k + 2.3K + 1.8k + 800 = 7.9K!!
On his turn he made a zenmaines but I removed it with BLS. Used a Machina Cannon to atk. Game!

(However, despite my first win, things go down hill for me from there as you can see below)

Round 2 vs David (Chaos Dragon.) XX-
Game 1
This round is very confusing.
I started with a Geargiganto X. (Using 2 Machanicalchaser, detach Machanical Chaser and added a Black Salvo) He comes with an Atum, fly in a REDMD then SS Watt dragon. Watt kills my X, My LP: 8k to 7.8k.
My turn, I made a Black Salvo + Machanicalchaser = Blackrose play.
I drop a machine vanilla with fortress to summon fortress. David LP: 8k to 5.5k
He sets a monster and ends with some backrows (I think)
I summon gearframe, added ????. Fortress attack the set monster, and out pops a GK spy. I was like Defaq! He then special summons another Spy that my gearframe cannot run over. I then equipped Gearframe to Fortress.
(He solemn judge something alone the way, I forgot what). His LP: 2750
My turn. Special summon Gearframe. Fortress attack SPY, Gearframe attack. His LP 2750 to 950.
After that it kind of got vague.
However, I roughy remember this: He summon lightpulsar that suicide to my fortress. Since he has  no cards for fortress to bomb, he got a free plus. He summon REDMD that ran over my Gearframe. My LP: 7800 to 6800.
I warning the effect of REDMD on his next turn. MY LP: 4800
He threw in a BLS and it direct attack me. MY LP: 1800
My turn. I had a veiler in my hand, and I drew another Veiler. I decided to set a bluff by setting veiler
Apparently, he got no monster, not risking to attack my set veiler. He attempted to removed it from game. To bluff him more, I used my hand veiler to veil BLS.
My next draw gave me no answer, so on his turn he removed my set veiler, he was like "OK...."
My turn, no good draw for me, and I died from there as he reborn my own fortress to kill me!

(Game 2, threw in a Morphing Jar 2)

Game 2
I had used both Judgement and warning. My LP down to 2k, while my machanicalchaser reduced his LP to 4300. He read my morphing jar 2 play, he used bounzer. The game was quick and I died from there.

Round 3 vs Putra (Machina Gadget) XX-
Game 1
A serious misplay: Never add a Fortress with Gearframe summon.
Apparently none of my cards gave me answer. He show me the hand of fortress with cannon and etc. I just died.

(Game 2, sided a morphing jar 2, 2 Mind crush)

Game 2
A set Morphing jar 2, returns his gearframe to the deck.
He then special summons Green Gadget face-down. I summon Gearframe but he veilers it.
I ran over his Green gadget.
He summons fortress and kills my gearframe and I ate a green Gadget.
He attempted a Geargiganto X but it met with a compluse.
He ate my pro-storm that kill good many stuff, but my judgement went with the storm
From there, we go to top-decking. And his top-decking of Gearframe really drives me nuts and I died from there.
(Thanks for the mineral water drink)

Round 4 vs Ernest (Hieroglyphs) XOX
Game 1
He veiled my rabbit, made a bounzer and just kill me from there

(Game 2 sided 2 light mirror)

Game 2
A successful Rabbit, call 2 vanillas, which made a Geargiganto X. Add a Black Salvo.
He made a Bounzer (again), kill my X. (my LP, 7600)
I topped a mind-control. Made a Gaia Dragoo which hit him for 2 turns. His LP 2800.
I forgot how he kill my Gaia. He call for a REDMD.
I suicide a fortress to it. He summon hanzo that added super transformation ,which I MSTed
Two fortresses going in but he booked one of them.
Somehow or other I managed to scraped pass.

Game 3
A Transformation on my rabbit
He ends with 2 Gaia and a REDMD. I just died from there

This deck play testing was like OK......
Apparently, my deck met with lots of problem especially dealing with veilers.
Not as consistent as my Machina Gadget, but when it explodes it really hits it hard

Ps: should I take this deck for WCQ?

What is your reason? YGO thoughts

If someone saw you play Yu-Gi-Oh and threw you a question"Why did you play Yu-Gi-Oh?"

I seen many answers in my life.
Classical answers.

a) I saw the YGO on TV/Web, I want to play.
- This answer is usually given when Yu-Gi-Oh first came out in the year early 2000+ some still give it as their answer till now.

b) My friends all play, I want to be part of them.
- This answer is usually the type that hop on a crowd, their enthusiasim with Yu-Gi-Oh last when their friends are in it. They may occassionally quit but their passion will get fired up when they see a new community of friends playing it.
I am in this category, I am the type that got encouraged by people around me.

c) I like the strategy gaming meta in this game
-  This is usually for those who are game fanatics.

d) I want to see big boobs
- To me i think some may be honest ehough to give this answer.
With the new Mermail archetype that is a rip off from Bermuda TriangleThis will get a whole bunch of new players into the game who just want to look at boobs. So what? If they love Yu-Gi-Oh due to this. It is still a welcome aboard for them.

Notice all the answer, comes to this: It was fun and I love it.
To be honest, I don't really care if the above reasons are dumb or lame, it is a pushing point in the game when we met with challenges such as losing. It is the love of the game that keep us going.

As long as the passion of the game is there, it is half the acheivement done. Whether you made it to the competitive level or you are just a casual player is another thing.

We learn as we play.

However, I heard one answer that really makes me wonder aloud. Take note of the words in BOLD

e) I want to play this game because I KNOW I CAN be good at it.

In my opinion, this answer is really from a player who totally lost his direction/ an arrogant person
How do you know you can be good at the game when you just started it? You don't know the basic rules of the game properly so how can you be good at it? Are you saying you don't love it at all?
To be honest, if you never seen Yu-Gi-Oh in shows /web or it is not recommended by friends, I don't think you will heard of Yu-Gi-Oh. So how can YOU KNOW you can be good at it?

In my opinion, everyone started as a noob. It is the love of the game and the motivation that kept us going, bringing us to the competitive/professional level. However, do not forget how your passion for Yu-Gi-Oh was born.

So what was your reason?

That is the fruit of thought for you

WCQ

WCQ

Well, in just a month + WCQ is coming. And my deck is done, (with some hiccups here and there).
As usual with my obession with Machine, I decided to stick to this monster deck type for a while. Gonna try it out on the next tournament.

This deck with the right cards can call out a Geargigano X in the shortest time.

However, I did not run the following cards in the deck.
a) Gadgets
b) Geargia monster (excpet for X)
c) Karakuri

I did run the following cards
a) Veilers
b) BLS !! (yes, I am fucking serious!). This deck can throw in a DAD but it is more difficult to call out.
c) Machina

Credits to Cheng Wee and a tip or two from Sebastian.

Hint: Cheng Wee just used the same concept of another top deck and apply to this new machine deck of mine.

Hieroglyph Ritua (Gishkiglyphs)

Hello everybody! I haven't posted in quite awhile and so here I am, bringing you a decklist of a deck which I've been having fun with for the past month - Gishkiglyphs! (as I call it) It is a deck with Hieroglyphs and Gishki combined together *you don't say?* to gain pluses and minus your opponent at the same time with the help of Evigishki Gustkrake, our key player.

Without further ado, the deck:-

Monsters - 25
----------------
1x Luster Dragon #2
1x Wattdragon
3x Vision Gishki
3x Gishki Abyss
3x Shadow Gishki
3x Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
3x Hieroglyph Dragon - Shiyu Dragon
3x Hieroglyph Dragon - Tfeni-Dragon
3x Evigishki Gustkrake
2x Effect Veiler

Spells - 15
-------------
3x Preparation of Rites
3x Hieroglyph Seal of Gathering
3x Upstart Goblin
3x Gishki Aquamirror
1x Salvage
1x Heavy Storm
1x Monster Reborn

This deck is kinda similar to the infamous Wind-Up Hunter loop decks where you put your opponent at a great disadvantage turn one. Let's take a look at Evigishki Gustkrake's awesome effect:-

Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be Ritual Summoned. You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Gishki" Ritual Spell Card. When this card is Ritual Summoned: Look at up to 2 random cards in your opponent's hand, and shuffle 1 of them into the Deck.

By summoning Gustkrake multiple times during your first turn, your opponent will not have much options left when their turn starts. Unlike Wind-Up Hunter, Gustkrake returns the card back to your opponents DECK, making their cards harder to obtain as many decks now might benefit from you sending them to the Graveyard. Furthermore, you get to see up to 2 cards from their hand and then CHOOSE one of them to return. With some lucksacked card picking skills, you can know your opponents entire hand by summoning 3 of these guys in 1 turn.

This was just the Gishki side of the deck. Now, by summoning Gustkrake with the Level 6 Hieroglyph dragons, you will gain an additional Level 6 vanilla to accompany him. With le awesome vanilla, you can continue your stunt by Xyz Summoning a powerful Rank 6 Xyz monster. If you have read my previous card review on "Photon Strike Bounzer", I did mention about Gishki decks being able to summon him with a Gustkrake which has already used its effect. After picking off a few of your opponents cards and having a PSB sitting on the field like a boss, your opponent has little means of a comeback.

Apart from PSB, you can also summon Number 25: Force Focus which is a huge 2800 beatstick with a somewhat limited effect negation ability, or my favorite - Constellar Ptolemys Messier 7. M7's awesome effect will help you with summoning more Gustkrakes during your turn by being able to return the tributed Hieroglyph monster to your hand. The Gishki Aquamirror's special effect will also return the Gustkrake which you detached for M7's ability. Having 3 M7s in your side deck is no surprise as you can really summon all 3 of them in a single duel. I however cannot afford 3 so I just stuck with 2 which is almost as good.

Other cards like Preparation of Rites and Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands will help you get your pieces fast to pull off the stunt. Upstart Goblin works here too as you really want the speed and this deck is not worried about your opponent having lots of LP. Salvage is just a random splash which works with the Gishki search monsters. I ran 2 Salvage once but realized they are most of a time a dead draw. You might also want to add in an Inzektor Exa-Beetle to your extra as this mini-scrap dragon might just come in handy if you did not manage to pull off much combos.

So this is pretty much summarizes what this deck does - Go first, loop your opponent's hand cards away, proceed to summon scary, high-attack Rank 6 monsters and pray that your opponent does not have Dark Hole. Go ahead and netdeck this, improve on it and have fun trolling your opponent with the awesome power of Gustkrake!

Sorry for the lack of images as I am writing this quite late in the night. I hope the links will be helpful.

Happy Vesak day and Damn you Yu-Gi-Oh

Ok, first of all, here wishing all Buddhists out there a Happy Vesak Day. Did no join 5/5/2012 Full-Yen tournament today due to Vesak Day and Group Project on Buddhism (Ironic)
Anyway back to the main point:
What Deck to play? (Key reason to why I stop going for tournaments!)

The following are the decks that I played through my life.

1) Gadgets (The 1st deck that I ever play, evolved from Ulitmate Offering Gadgets to Reshelf Ritual Gadget to my current Machina Gadget)
- Currently, unsure if I wanted to upgrade it with Geargia. Very Expensive, you know that Geargiganto X.

2) Chao lucksacking Lightsworn (Evolved from pure Lightsworn to Twilight, the time where Lyla is fucking expensive!)
- Should I depend on luck?

3) Karakuri (Imba swarm), wonder if I should throw in a Geargiganto X?

These are the following that I am considering.

1) BF.
Reason: Shura attacking and calling a Vayu gonna have more plays. We not gonna just have a Catastor for a beating. There is gonna be a grave syncro too. However, I am not sure if this card is going to help much.

Blackwing - Gram the Shining Star is gonna be real.
Coming out in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Manga Promotional Cards: Series 4‎!!
Edit; Sian. This card cannot be special summon by grave synchro

2) E-Hero? I got beaten by an E-Hero deck during ACS 2012!

3) Inzektors?. They are POWER! I am just afriad they will be hit.

4) Hieroglyph? THEY ARE POWER! However, I got same worries as Inzektors. >.<

That is my fruit of thought.......

Cheers!

Thursday 3 May 2012

I am bored.

After ACS 2012 and the recent ranking tournaments of our team. I realised 1 important thing! I had to get a life! Gadgets for like god knows how many months. To be honest, I am a bit tired of it. Need something new to get a life. Any suggestions?

- Cheers
