Mind Control. Chances of it being banned?

MindControlSDWS-EN-C-1E.jpg

So today, we will discuss Yugioh's most  impoertant card. A common card that will be seen in many decks. Be it Junk Doppler, Six Sam, Gravekeepers, Herobeat, TGAA etc etc.

Mind Control!

Mind control is a card that will turn a table in any duel. Despite the fact that the controlled monster will return to its owner and it cannot attack or be used as a tribute, it serves many functions

Its functions varies, lets have a few classical examples:

1) Moves your opponent's monster out of the way, for a direct attack

2) Make use of the controlled monster for synchros and xyz. For worst case, Chaos XYZ with your opponent's Utopia.

3) Took control of BLS/Chaos Sorcerer and removed itself from play. (Now that is troll!)

4) If you are having a mirror match of TGAA, this card can be used to take control of your opponent's Master Hyperion. You can then use its eff to clear troublesome monster like Krystia that is prevent you from doing your TGAA stunts.

Some people claim that this card is too imba in this era! It gives your opponent a -1! while you are able to turn the tables.
While other's claim that this card is the one that balances tha game against meta decks.

In my opinion, There is not much of a chance that Mind Control will be banned:
it is due to these few reasons.

Even if this card is banned, what Control Card will be unbanned?

Brain Control?: No way, the monster controlled can attack, and that may changed the entire game. While Mind Control has its restriction, so even if you took control of the monster with Mind Control, it may not really give you the 100% win.

Goyo Guardian?: Well. hmm it is hard to decide for this one.
Goyo guardian was a card that had caused some trouble in the game due to these few reasons

1) It put hesitation in players that had hyperion in hand or were planning to summon something less than 2800 when they can see that their oponent can summon  Goyo Guardian on the next turn.

2)Previously Goyo Guardian was good due to the fact that people splashed synchros like Stardust Dragon, Brionac. Goyo Guardian can  took them, the controller was able to use their effects.

However, some people claim that Goyo Guardian may be unbanned due to the reasons below:

1) In this era, XYZ monsters are introduced and Goyo Guardian can only steal them and not allow the player to use their effects.

2) There are cards like BLS, veiler, DP..... etc etc to stop him.

This is my Fruit for thought. What do you think?

Cyclones vs Dustshoots

Hey, its Ghakim, here's my first blog post for the group, trust me, I won't post dumb things *Cough* like someone.

So today, we will discuss Yugioh's two most prominent cards. One gets rid of Spells and Traps (S/T) and one gets rid of monsters, or rather, just returns them. Both are very similar in terms of card bonuses individually. Though what if one was chained to the other?

Let's talk about Cyclone, or as its so annoyingly called, Mystical Space Typhoon (Gawd damn I hate its English name). Everyone seems to activate this at the start of their Main Phase 1. Nothing wrong with that, as that's the thing with the most priority you should do when you start your turn but personally, I think the best time to activate Cyclone is at your Draw Phase because some cards can only be activated during your Standby Phase. So if its not chained to, you'll luckily hit a Mirror Force, Bottomless, Solemn Judgment or Thunder of Ruler (WDF?), resulting in a +0 or 1-for-1, which is good. Though what if you opponent chains to it and makes you lose card advantage? In this case, Trap Dustshoot. If you're really unlucky, he would have set that card to chain it to your first card's activation, resulting in a -1 for you, which totally blows (Sup Ameen?). Now that's the situation if Trap Dustshoot is his only set card.

This time, assume your opponent has 2 set S/Ts and one set monster. So, you draw a card and he activates Dustshoot ASAP. Now, your opponent has 1 set S/T and one monster. Wouldn't it seem like a good idea to activate that Cyclone since your opponent will gain a lot of knowledge to your strategy? OK, so let's chain the Cyclone and blow the set card. BOOM, you hit either an Icarus Attack or a Torrential Tribute. You just foiled your opponent's plan for your turn. Now that's nothing, try to fool a Negator monster.

OK, so this time your opponent has 2 set S/Ts, and that damn Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En. You draw, Dustshoot opens, would you chain Cyclone? Just do it, because at this time, you force your opponent to think critically on whether or not he wants to save his other set card. If he negates it, you may have a chance to kill off Shi En. If not, then you will have successfully destroyed his set card and play mind games with him as you wouldn't obviously activate your other spell and traps.

So that's some of the ideas to optimize the use of Cyclone in your opening hand. Now what about Trap Dustshoot? When should we open it? Let's say you open Dustshoot ASAP upon your opponent's turn. The benefits of this; 1-for-1 removal, full information on your opponent's cards, best possibility of strategy disruption. OK, what if you activate it after your opponent activates his first card? Either 1-for-1 removal or 2-for-1 removal, partial information on your opponent's cards but a lower possibility of strategy disruption, if he places too many cards on the field. So which one is better? Depends on the deck it is used against. Against monster-light decks like E-HEROs, it either hits very critically or it misses entirely (All Spell/Trap hand, you see). Against monster-heavy decks like Lightsworns, T.G. A, and Junk Doppel, it hardly hurts them because of the high number of monsters they run.

So yeah, that's my first blog post about Yugioh here. I hoped y'all enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it. If you have any comments or thoughts, don't be afraid of posting it below.

The Kinokuniya Raid on 28/1/2012

With, a suddenly urge, We were all going to kinokuniya in orchard to raid/rape cards. We swept the whole Kino. I got the following conclusion.

1) We scrubbed badly. No rai-oh found. No Acid Golem of FUN. No Silfer. Saw GOYO Guardian book however.........
2) Some of us made a HUGE LOSS!! No joke! Roachy book found at $22. Most of us bought roach at 30+ at Full-Yen......>.<

We then made our way to J-Cube at dhouby for more fun!!
Got the following conclusion.

1) NO space to sit.
2) My KK deck really a ass sia. Manipulate position of moster like puppet

After a bit of fun, we made our way to plaza S'pura for dinner
We found CC selling YGO boosters at $2. (All the boosters before STOR if I remember correctly)
We decided to have our dinner first before coming back.

However, at CC, I got the following conclusions
1) As Cheng Wee suspected, CC is clearing stocks as CC are not ordering these antique packs anymore. So not much chance of hitting Foil POD if you get what I mean. However, being happy-go-lucky, we go for a few shots for foil POD. NO AVAIL. Got A.D changer.............

2) After, that we go back in time and started hitting Phantom of Darkness pack. We go RAINBOW NEOS......... awesome right. ( Yeah right). We saw so many packs of Phantom Darkness packs. We just wish for a SUPER POLY, why so harsh on us one,,,, sniff, sniff.  Never get it sia. Got a Yubel starinf at us on the face. *At least Let Me see the final FORM!!!

Conclusion, we have fun scrubbing WDF

Vanguard vs Yu-Gi-Oh

Was just talking to Cheng Wee on the Mrt on the crazy format of Yu-Gi-Oh and Cardfight! Vanguard
(Now most of us are switching from Full-Time Yu-Gi-Oh Player to Part-Time Yu-Gi-Oh player and Full-Time Cardfight Vanguard Player)

Looking back at various card games that set roots into our hearts, the ones that are now completing with each other are Yu-Gi-Oh and Cardfight Vanguard.

On this era, Yu-Gi-Oh format was (to be honest) a huge Mess due to Agent, then TGAA, and now Inzecter.
Is there no end to this bullshit?
At that very moment, Cardfight! Vanguard jump in at this very mess and most of us who are Yu-Gi-Oh  players started to direct our resources to Cardfight! Vanguard as it is a balanced. (the case of what your clan has, I also have)

Now let's look on this very obvious difference in both the card games

For Cardfight! Vanguard, literally all the cards in the booster/trial deck can be used for create a cheap clan (simple kagero/tachikaze) deck :for those who are well ahem not so rich enough to go for Expensive Clan (shadow paladin/oracle think tank) deck.
Despite under money/funds limitation, sometimes these cheap decks can beat the expensive decks.
This is due to the balance of the game. (due to standard all decks must have 16 triggers no more no less)
(the price of cards are just determined by 70% rarity and 30% eff. The cards are suitable for its own clan only and although it can be mixed with other clans, it does not caused any overpowering)

However, for Yu-Gi-Oh, not all cards in a booster can be used for a deck.
And usually the more expensive cards, are the ones that are literally splashable in any deck can caused overpowering.)

Cardfight! Vanguard really paves the way on making life simple for those who wanted to start their first card game.

Why? Because it is simple to learn and OMFG it is really killing the Konami Market.

I heard from people saying this " All those who know learn how to play Ygo first, will learn how CF vanguard in the shortest time, now ever it does not apply for vice-versa"

How true it was:

In any case, some of us in this group are currently taking a break due to the format which really screw things up. Just hope that March Banlist is better for this era. Some of us are currently focusing on CF Vanguard to pass the time. Not saying we quitting YGO or anything. It is just we gonna give it a little lesser priority.

Parody banlist 03/2012

Disclaimer:
This banlist is meant to be a Joke and a Parody for Yu-Gi-Oh Players to laugh about. :D

Forbidden:
Future Fusion (Just an epic big foolish burial for dragons)
Black Luster Soldier. (Konami just want to cheat your money)
Mystical Shine Balls (Konami has lose its balls)

LimitedCyberstein (Paying 5000 lifepoints okay to get negated by a veiler)
Raigeki (More Nukes should return)
Time seal (With godlike draw power a skip in the draw phase doesnt really matter)
Magician of Black Chaos (Monster reborn gone. Less alternative to search spells)
Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End ( Year of the Dragon. If this really happens. Every YGO player will be jumping for joy)
Archlord Kristya
T.G Striker (Change the game for TGAA)/ The Agent of Creation - Venus (thinning of deck PLUS synchro PLUS xyz)
Tragoedia (last time it is just plain control for synchro but now it is also an advantage for xyz)

Semi-limited
Debris Dragon. (The reason is no lion to search.)
Lonefire blossom (same reason, no lion to get)
Wall of revealing light (Mst at 3 plus a heavy storm)
Inzektor Centipede (Key searcher)

Unlimited
Magical Stone Excavation (Not much to search if MR got banned)
Swords of Revealing light (Mst at 3 plus a heavy storm)
Dark Armed Dragon (3 JDs, why not 3 DAD)
Monster Reborn(There are too much destruction Konami decides to unlimit)
Snatch steal (to be abused by power tool dragon and MOBC)

Inzektors will not be touch as much. Not 100% of the cards had touch TCG yet so it is the same scenario with Black Feather. Let the TCG be dissolved into it first.
